Other distributions on the Zonbu hardware

Installing an alternative operating system is strongly discouraged and not officially supported. You will not receive any support if you damage your device or your compact-flash card. The following information is provided without any guarantee, proceed at your own risk.

The following distributions have been reported to work with the Zonbu Mini Desktop. Please note that this information is reported by the users, and hasn't been confirmed by the Zonbu staff. Any problems are noted in parentheses.

• Arch Linux (graphics driver problem)
  • To fix the problem, copy the following two files from the Zonbu OS to the same location in Archlinux:

/usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/via_drv.so 
/etc/X11/xorg.conf 

• Damn Small Linux (audio doesn't work)
• Fedora Core (missing OpenChrome driver)
• Morphix
  • In order to install, you must create an EXT2 FS on the first partition of the CF card, put the ISO image in this FS, and use initrd to load it.
• Puppy Linux (missing video and audio drivers)
• Ubuntu & Xubuntu (missing audio driver problem - a fix has been found here)
• Kubuntu
• Debian
• Morphix (requires some changes in the boot process, see this forum post)

If you have successfully used any other Linux distribution on your Zonbu, let us know.

Hit Delete on boot to enter BIOS. Enable Port 64/60 Emulation and disable BIOS EHCI Hand-Off in the USB configuration menu to boot from a USB hard drive.

Hit Delete on boot to enter BIOS. Change to boot PXE, and reboot.
