Add a program for editing sheet music

Postby TheOne on Thu Aug 23, 2007 2:14 pm

On a windows machine I use Finale, http://www.finalemusic.com/, to edit and create sheet music.

I would love to have a replacement for Finale on my Zonbu.
Because my Zonbu does not make any noise at all, it's the perfect box to create music with.

Zonbu only uses free (and preferably open-source) Linux software. Unhappily, most of the existing software does not support Linux.

Actually, I don't know any good free music edition software, apart from LilyPond:
http://lilypond.org/web/
which is not exactly user-friendly Sad

Maybe NtEd is a nice WYSIWYG alternative?

Sample screens can be found in the online documentation (click "Next" for more).

It's only a 1966 K download and it's multi langual (EN, FR ,ES, DE, NL and others).

Nice suggestion. The app looks very nice, even if it's still young. I will try it.

I've also added it to our bug tracker.

It seems the above sugestion for NtEd is not copied to the bugtracker:
http://bugzilla.zonbu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1164
"request for music composition program [XYB-NuLwN-130]"
and so it's not there as one of the options:
Possible programs:

http://muse-sequencer.org/

I'm pessimistic about all this... LilyPond is great, in the same sense than
LaTeX2e is great...
