REQUEST: Applications choices

I think that for people like me who know very little about linux based programs, installing new programs that we'd like or need is a very large hassle, especially if its difficult to understand how to install them. I think that Zonbu should have an "Approved Application Download List" in which Zonbu can allow us to install tested programs of our choice with the usual updates without having to switch to the developer edition of Zonbu. Frankly, I want to install some programs, but have no idea about linux. At the same time, as much as I'd love to learn linux, I don't want to mess up my laptop trying to learn how to install a program.

If you like this idea, please say so and try to keep it on the first page. Thank you.

I would love this idea too. Unlike some of the other people that have bought the Zonbu Desktop/Notebook, I have used Linux and know how to install the applications that I need. But I love this idea since I tend to stay away from installing applications because of the difficulty.

I totally agree.
I hope that the Zonbu teams will do something with this idea.
And when they are working on this anyway, I hope they will consider the following software:
- Google Earth
- Picasa
- Project Planning software

I'm in absolute agreement here too. I would be thrilled with even a small select group of approved apps that can be added to Zonbu without breaking the build or causing unnecessary problems to the OS.

I realize the "walled garden" is a big part of the selling point, but as Zonbu users get more comfortable, it's only natural to want to be able to add a few different things onto it. Otherwise, they may move on to another flavor of Linux.

As for me, I would love to see a few simple things added: Audacity, and the emusic download app for starters. For the most part, Zonbu has what I need, but I definitely would like some more audio/entertainment apps like these.
